GBH Partners with IDAGIO on New Concert Series, ‘Performance Reimagined’

Boston public media producer GBH has announced a partnership with classical music streaming service IDAGIO on a new concert series to bring classical music performances into the homes of listeners. Over the next several months, GBH and IDAGIO will bring listeners a series of five compelling video concerts featuring celebrated classical musicians performing in GBH’s Fraser Performance Studio. The concerts will be streamed to IDAGIO’s Global Concert Hall audience.

The series, Performance Reimagined, kicks off on April 17, 2021 with a performance by famed violinist Gil Shaham and members of the New York-based orchestra The Knights, featuring works from their new album “Beethoven and Brahms: Violin Concertos.” Performers for the additional concerts will be announced at a later date. All of the shows will be accessible via IDAGIO’s Global Concert Hall.

Performance Reimagined will be hosted by Brian McCreath, of Boston’s 24/7 classical public radio station, CRB Classical 99.5, a part of GBH. GBH’s Grammy Award-winning audio engineer, Antonio Oliart Ros, will record each performance. The series is generously sponsored by Cynthia and Oliver Curme, Ann and Graham Gund and Cynthia Strauss and Harry Sherr. Each performance will also air at a later date as part of the Sunday evening “In Concert” broadcast on CRB Classical 99.5.

The partnership between GBH and IDAGIO began with the global pandemic, as concert cancellations began worldwide. The two organizations first teamed up to bring renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma’s tribute to Ennio Morricone to global audiences in July 2020 and continued with the cellist’s tribute to the 75th anniversary of the United Nations in October. GBH and IDAGIO also worked together on a series of Beethoven streams presented by Ma and pianist Emanuel Ax and performances by Brooklyn Rider and Gil Shaham.

Tickets for the concerts cost between $9 and $79 and can be purchased from the IDAGIO Global Concert Hall. This flexible ticketing model allows for additional support of the participating artists. The Gil Shaham and The Knights performance on April 17 was pre-recorded and will be available on demand for three weeks. Tickets are available for purchase on the IDAGIO Global Concert Hall website.
